I am a person who cannot be mentally active if I have a disturbed sleep/lack of sleep the previous night.
Two days before was such night, I desperately wanted to sleep. So to have uninterrupted sleep, I decided to use mosquito-repellent for avoiding the mosquitoes (since our room has a good window with good air flow but with no mosquito net).
I went to bed around 10 pm and slept off, when it was around 12.30am I was feeling suffocated and also had sore throat, I immediately switched off the mosquito-repellent and shut that opened window. Then sleep peacefully for the night, when I woke up, I still had the sore throat. This happened the next night also, I switched ON the repellent only for 10 mins and I started to have suffocated feeling, and immediately switched off it and then I felt better.
I still have sore throat, this made me to read upon mosquito repellent.
I never have used these plug-in repellents previously, it was very recent that I started using them. Before these, I either use mosquito coils or I never open the doors/windows in the evenings.
We all generally thrive this hard in life to eat good food, to have mental peace, to have goodnight's sleep, etc.,
We think, we might sleep good if we use mosquito repellent and we may escape from mosquito bites through the night. But there are effects when we are exposed to long term for these repellents, few are:
Cold
Cough
Wheezing
Asthma etc.,
Why these happen? because repellents use many toxic chemicals which makes mosquitoes faint (not kill), so something obviously happens to this mosquito for short time. But we are exposed to the repellents continuously for at least 7 hours a night, Right?
What might happen to us?
Makes sense right?
So what is the solution for this mosquito problem?
Keep your windows/doors shut in the evening.
While you keep your windows/door shut, light a mud lamp with the neem oil and camphor in it. If you're not comfortable with this lamp through the night, You can put off the lamp and just keep the neem oil and camphor containing mud lamp in your room through the night.
You can put up smoke of neem leaves in the evening such that it enters the house from outside. This we follow religiously all the time in our home, I have also attached the set-up we have for this.
This is the setup for neem smoke, that we follow at our home every evening (almost).

We just take oldest rusted iron tray and fill with coconut fibres and shells and make it smoke.
After it smokes, we just put either fresh neem leaves or dried neem leaves for neem smoke.

We also keep a small bucket of water near by this because, if the fire is on flames, the leaves might burn out soon giving us no smoke. So we just sprinkle some water when it flames out.
Whenever we do this in the evening (around 6.30pm), there will be very less/no mosquito in the home that night. 😊
As winter season is setting in, mosquitoes will be high too, so lets not do these basic above mentioned mistakes which could effect us in long run.
Let me know apart from the above methods, what kind of measures you take to stop mosquito entry from your homes.
Anbudan,

PS: We place this iron tray closer to the main door of the home and when smoke enters, it will cover all the rooms.
After the neem leaves smoking is done, we take the hot charcoal remains of the coconut shells and put powder sambrani to the whole home.
And the mud lamp method, I tried it two years ago, and it gave good results too.😊
