I was in a habit a few years back, that I was using slippers for everything I do, which includes using it for indoor bathrooms.
And then I noticed, that my legs were so sensitive that I was not able to walk even a few steps without slippers. This bothered me so much, and then I started practicing to walk barefoot whenever I can (I didn't know it would have so many impacts back then).

Now I notice that my leg has become a bit harder than it was before and I can walk easily on the ground with barefoot very comfortably and at a faster pace than before.
I also noticed, that my mom and dad's legs were too harder and they could walk very easily without slippers and they had perfect shaped legs.
And we all know, all our grandparents would rarely wear slipper and they walk faster than us.

When you go to a beachside, you don't walk with your shoes/slippers on, don't you? Have you felt the difference in barefoot walking there?
That is enough for you to relate what I have to say in this post.
Oh yes, there are health benefits and positive effects on walking barefooted.
Recently I came across a sentence somewhere in social media, "Put a shoe on, and it's gone", which made me read up on that.
Now, let me ask you an interesting question.
Do you know what is the best Anti-inflammatory on the planet?
For clarity, I will explain in simple terms what is an anti-inflammatory, it is a drug or a property of a substance which reduces pain, swelling, acts as the first aid to the body when there is an injury.
Now tell me what is the best anti-inflammatory?
No idea?
Ok, just stop reading and go google and search "Best anti-inflammatory".
What results do you get?

Is it similar to the above image? Showing various drugs (which most of us commonly go and get in the medical shop, just like that).
You might ask, "What's so interesting about this?".
Let me tell you that "The Planet" is itself the greatest Anti-inflammatory of all.
You might tell "Summa kadha vidadheenga bossu" (meaning "Don't tell us stories dude").
I am serious, if you don't believe go google search yourself as "Earth as Anti-inflammatory" you will find numerous research papers with this connection.
Let me put those in a nutshell, the earth is behaving as an anti-inflammatory when we walk barefooted and when we sleep on a "paai".
What?
Barefooted? Are you kidding?
Being so much civilized, are you telling us to walk barefooted? and sleep on floor?
You must have gone nuts!!
ME: That's ok, just listen to what story I have to say!!
Shoes- are the "World's Most Dangerous Invention", said by David Wolfe after his fifteen long years of nutritional and lifestyle research. He also quotes "shoes are the most destructive culprits of inflammation and autoimmune diseases" and it is because it separates us from the healing energy of the Earth.
What a barefoot can do?
They say, there are almost 7,200 nerve endings in your feet. Whenever there is direct contact of the foot with the Earth or through a conductive path, there is a charge transfer between the body and the Earth which helps in maintaining various processes of the body.
So the principle is that the Earth is abundant in negatively charged particles, which are " free electrons" and our body has plenty of positively charged free radicals (due to inflammatory response from various damages we caused to the body), so when both are in contact, the body neutralizes which helps in relieving stress, maintaining circadian rhythm, regularize blood pressure, etc.,
This thing of walking without slipper, sleep on a coconut fiber mat ("paai" in Tamil") is called "Earthing". The phenomenon by which the body will be in direct contact with the earth.
Just like we Earth our electrical machines !!!
The proven explicit benefits of Earthing are:
Improved sleep.
Increased energy.
Lowers stress and promotes calmness in the body.
Normalizes the body's biological rhythms.
Thins blood and improves blood pressure and flow
Relieves muscle tension and headaches

I happened to read an exciting and amazing book "Earthing: The most important health discovery ever?" by Clinton Obert et al., and this book claims, that earthing can cure or reduce the effects of various chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, foot ulcer, etc.,
I also found experimental evidence of tension relieving in the leg by barefooting in this book which is shown in the infrared image of the legs below, where the left image shows the inflammation (caused because of leg pain, the red area is very hot and has severe pain). And the right image is 30 minutes later and with barefooting, in which the inflammation has highly reduced. So this explains, the earthing reduces chronic pain, stiffness, etc.,

So technically it is like earthing ourselves the same as like we earth our electrical systems.
Fascinating, isn't it?
I also didn't even imagine this simple thing can have such a large impact.
Not so sure, if our grandparents were walking barefooted and sleeping in a "paai" knowing all these or not, but at least let us know the science behind and not spoil everything in the name of "Civilisation".
Most of our small problems can be sorted out without taking "Painkiller" tablets, just by walking Barefooted.
Get out and just walk with your barefoot for at least 30 mins a day for more visible effects on good mental health, goodnight's sleep, good bio-clock etc.,
Let's make little changes in our lifestyle and stay healthy.

Maybe we can go for organic flip flops which will also not interrupt the grounding.
Can wear these while travelling.
But still, we can avoid shoes and slippers in home and walk bare footed!!!
