You might think as name suggests this series is a narration of classical Ramayan, so did I thought.

The series consists of three books so far:

  1. Book 1: RAM-Scion of Ikshavaku

  2. Book 2: SITA-Warrior of Mithila

  3. Book 3: RAAVAN- Enemy of Aaryavarta

Written by Amish Tripati and all the three books published from 2015 to 2019.

I happened to read "SITA- Warrior of Mithila" first without the knowledge that this is a series of books. After finishing the book of SITA I could not resist myself from reading the next which is RAAVAN. Finally I happened to skim through RAM for a name sake.

Trust me I have done a great favor for myself by reading SITA first.

All the three books has the same scenes starting and ending with Sita's abduction scene. Going on with the birth and brought up of all the three characters in the respective books. So this is a multilinear way of narration of the same scene in different people's perspective.

We have been taught and thought of Ramayana as Ram's story with Sita, Raavan and others as just characters in it. But this series of books is completely different in which feels like it is the story of Sita and Raavan while Ram is just a character in their life.

After reading all the three books, that is how I felt of the whole classic play Ramayan.

In the upcoming posts, I will give a brief of all the three books and finally my views about the series.

PS: I am definitely waiting for the next book tentatively titled "The War of Lanka" expected to be released by end of 2021 or in the first half of 2022.
